Informe sobre el Impacto Ambiental y Sanitario de los Hornos Crematorios

El presente informe es una síntesis del ya realizado para la comunidad de Villa Allende. Tiene por objeto proveer a los vecinos y autoridades sobre los efectos ambientales y sanitarios de la cremación. Los mismos pueden ser extrapolados al horno crematorio del complejo CIVA que esta opera en Villa Allende. Se entrega formalmente a los vecinos como un aporte honorario del autor, de FUNAM y de la Cátedra de Biología Evolutiva Humana.

The informal recycling sector in developing countries: Organizing waste pickers to enhance their impact

For the urban poor in developing countries, informal waste recycling is a common way to earn income. There are few reliable estimates of the number of people engaged in waste picking or of its economic and environmental impact. Yet studies suggest that when organized and supported, waste picking can spur grassroots investment by poor people, create jobs, reduce poverty, save municipalities money, improve industrial competitiveness, conserve natural resources, and protect the environment.

Cancer mortality in towns in the vicinity of incinerators and installations for the recovery or disposal of hazardous waste

Background: Waste treatment plants release toxic emissions into the environment which affect neighboring towns.
Objectives: To investigate whether there might be excess cancer mortality in towns situated in the vicinity of Spanish-based incinerators and installations for the recovery or disposal of hazardous waste, according to the different categories of industrial activity.
